It’s that season again. The holidays, full of great food relaxed times and family. This is also a very important time for your training! What most people do year to year is tell themselves “well it’s the holiday season so I’m just going to cheat a little more and skip a few days and I’ll get back on track after new year”. I see it every year. Then the new year rolls around and they are way behind, over weight and now out of shape. So, they suffer through hard work just to try to get back to where they were and hope for success before swimsuit season hits. This scenario plays out each year almost exactly the same. Its unsuccessful and hard on your health. I’ll explain how you can stay fitter, be healthier and with consistency reach your goals!
I love the example of the farmer at this time of year. We all want the harvest but skip the steps to produce it. This is NOT the season to relax and slack off if you want that body ready for summer! Now is when we start tilling the ground and planting our crops. We will absolutely consume more food than normal during the holiday season for most. That’s not an excuse to abandon all attempts to eat right and train. We should continue to eat right and train consistently if not more. The better we can do on all the days around the holidays, the less negative impact binge eating turkey and pie will have! If we do happen to not do as well, then step the training up and use the calories for growth. This time of year, we can focus on building the base for what we want to see next year. New year will roll around like always. If we chose to end the year working hard, then there is no need to make that shady resolution to get in shape! By this time your crops have been sown and the plants should be growing nicely. We still must stay on track and keep training and eating right. The new year is the time for maintaining, watering, and fertilizing those crops to ensure a great harvest. Once the weather starts warming up if you did all your work and stayed on point with everything now is time to start enjoying the fruits!!!! You should be walking around feeling confident in yourself and your body, so you can enjoy your most active months of summer!! Be a farmer, do all the work. Till, plant, fertilize, weed, water and protect the crops! Then we can reap the awesome Harvest! Without the work there is no success. Now is the time to till and plant crops, not to plant your butt on the couch and eat!
Stay focused, make no excuses, do the work and reap the reward! Farm yourself a better you!
